The New York Mets are 48-40 and two games out of the wild card. They currently will go on a 12 game road trip starting this Thursday. They will go to the west coast to play all National League West Division teams.

Currently they face a tough climb with there season, they need a bit of pitching at the back end of the rotation still. There lineup while scoring a lot of runs in bunches, it has lacked scoring in big spots lately, and has been hurt by the lack of production by free agent acquisition Jason Bay who has only 6 home runs and 44 runs batted in.

If Jose Reyes is hurt, and Carlos Beltran can not give them a lift when he comes back from the Disabled List a playoff push will be hard to come by.

The Mets can certainly use another hitter or two off the bench, one more starter, and a reliever in the bullpen to compete for a playoff spot.
